BERLIN (Sputnik) — Earlier on Friday, dozens of members of parliament from the pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), including its co-chairs Figen Yuksekdag and Selahattin Demirtas, were reportedly arrested across the country.
"The night arrests of politicians and delegates of the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP), in the view of the minister, have severely damaged the situation. No one is questioning the Turkish right to fight against the terrorist threat and investigate into an attempt of a bloody coup in a legal way. But this should not be an excuse to make the political opposition silent or even take it to jail," the ministry said.
The meeting in the foreign ministry is scheduled to make the Turkish government aware of Berlin’s official stance on the matter.
