New Jersey Transit executive director Steve Santoro will testify before the legislative committee on Friday in wake of the deadly Hoboken train crash, local media reported.

NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Santoro and other agency’s top officials are likely to face questions about the company's safety measures violations and high crash rate, NBC News reported on Friday.

​New Jersey Senator Bob Gordon, who serves on the committee, said in an open letter on Thursday that it has to be figured out “how and why safety violations have become so numerous."

New Jersey Transit executives gave short notice to evade previous legislative hearing in wake of the September train crash. Failure to appear on Friday may result in federal subpoenas, the report added.

Some 100 people were injured and one died when the commuter train traveling twice the speed limit crashed in New Jersey's Hoboken Terminal during the morning rush hour on September 29.
