MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Relations between Tokyo and Moscow have recently been re-energized. In September, Abe took part in the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia's Vladivostok, during which he held three-hour talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. One of the outcomes of the meeting was the announcement of Putin's visit to Japan on December 15, which had been postponed from 2014.
"It is important, that president Putin and our Prime Minister Abe are to establish trustworthy relationships. Notably, we managed to find so many projects over the past few months. And the main thing is that the enhancing of political cooperation gives an impulse to develop business in Russia and Japan … On the basis of trustworthy political friendship between Putin and Abe we may promote our economic cooperation," Seko said in an interview with Rossiya 24 channel.
"During the meeting our prime minister personally handed this plan to Vladimir Putin, in accordance with which our country is ready to cooperate with Russia on eight aspects … At the end of their talks Putin applauded to Abe’s plan, he really appreciated these projects," Seko said.
Abe presented the bilateral economic plan during his Sochi visit in September. The plan covers such areas as oil and gas development and the modernization of ports and airports in the Far East.
