MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The comment came after Friday’s report by NBC, claiming that US military hackers had penetrated Russia's electric grid, telecommunications networks and the Kremlin's command systems, making them vulnerable to attacks by secret US cyberweapons.
"Our specialists ensuring national security should be on alert, since the US is becoming too unpredictable and dangerous," Kosachev said.
"There is no doubt that the US administration and intelligence are behind the leak, thus 'visualizing' the threats uttered earlier by US Vice President [Joe] Biden to use a cyberweapon against Russia," Kosachev added.
Kosachev also linked possible cyberattacks to the culmination of the election campaign in the United States.
The lawmaker said that a number of scandals broke out three days before the November 8 presidential election, and thus the references to alleged Russian hackers seemed a desperate attempt to distract public attention from the US internal issues.
