At least one person was detained during the rally held by both the Black Lives Matter civil-rights group and the Anonymous group in the US city of Houston, Texas, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Houston Chronicle reported Saturday that police officers detained a 22-year-old person who tried to remove the US flag from the flagstaff near the City Hal land to flip it upside down, within the framework of the march.

The newspaper added that dozens of protesters, many of whom were wearing Guy Fawkes masks as part of the so-called Million Mask March, participated in the rally that was organized by the two groups.

The Black Lives Matter movement was established after Ferguson, Missouri police shot dead African-American teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida in July 2013. It has become a political force in the United States since.

The Million Mask demonstration is an annual event, which has been held across the globe since 2012.
