The actions of the US-led coalition in Mosul have led to the deaths of civilians, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated, adding that the West hasn't developed any plans on how to avoid civilian casualties.
"The counter-terrorism operation carried out by the major powers of the 21st century has become a medieval slaughter, which primarily affects the civilian population. The population of Mosul is being massively killed both by the terrorists and the coalition forces opposing them," the diplomat wrote on her Facebook account.
Zakharova also spoke about the "total information blockade" on the part of the coalition. According to her, there is no data on the "advance or retreat of coalition forces" as well as on the efficiency of its tactics.
"One thing is clear: the coalition's attitude to peaceful residents of Mosul is worse than that of the militants in Aleppo," the spokeswoman concluded.
The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly said that US-led coalition's airstrikes in Mosul have led to civilian casualties.
On October 28, a US Air Force jet attacked a school near the Iraqi city of Mosul, according to the Russian General Staff. On October 25, the Russian military said than 60 civilians had been killed and 200 wounded in coalition airstrikes on Mosul residential districts during three days.
Moreover, the US-led coalition launched strikes on a funeral procession in the Iraqi town of Daquq near the city of Kirkuk, killing dozens of civilians.
