WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Sunday, SDF spokesman Talal Sello said the SDF had received weapons, including anti-tank missiles, from the US-led coalition against the Islamic State.
"I’m not aware of those particular comments," Cook told reporters. "There are members of the Syrian Democratic Forces that we have provided ammunition and equipment to… but I’m not aware specifically of that reference."
Cook said the United States expects coalition members to maintain control of any weapons or ammunition from the Defense Department.
On Sunday, the Kurdish-led SDF announced the launch of the operation Wrath of Euphrates to retake the Islamic State’s capital of Raqqa.
The US-led coalition is backing the operation with airstrikes and, according to media reports, as many as 50 US special operations forces.
