Trump's team put out a statement following the incident. "I would like to thank the United States Secret Service and the law enforcement in Reno and the state of Nevada for their fast and professional response. I would also like to thank the many thousands of people present for their unwavering and unbelievable support. Nothing will stop us — we will make America great again!" it read.
Following the incident it was not clear what had sparked disturbance at the rally, as several eyewitnesses claimed that the detained man had a gun in his hands, however these reports had been refuted by law enforcement official, who had told NBC News that "no weapon was found" at the campaign rally.
"Immediately in front of the stage, an unidentified individual shouted 'gun.' Secret Service agents and Reno Police Officers immediately apprehended the subject," the Secret Service said in a statement, as quoted by NBC News.
