US Democratic Party nominee Hillary Clinton, in case of winning the presidential election, will continue to pursue Washington’s policy of stirring up the conflict in Syria, Syria’s incumbent Ambassador to China and former Ambassador to the United States Imad Moustapha told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — During the last presidential debates Clinton pledged as potential commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces to expand US airstrikes against the Daesh and to support ground forces in campaigns to recapture Raqqa in Syria.

“Clinton will save no effort trying to perpetuate and further inflame the conflict in Syria… This can be translated in more rabid political support for the terrorist jihadists labeled ‘moderate opposition’; more arms, ammunition and money for these jihadists; and more direct use of force by the US in Syria whether ‘mistakenly’ or deliberately.”

US Planners Come Up With 'Plan C' to Bring Syria Under Control
During her election campaign, Clinton has pledged to increase the US influence in the Middle Eastern region, to create no-fly zones inside Syria, increase pressure on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and boost support to the armed opposition. Clinton stated that she would consider arming the Kurds, "our best partners in Syria, as well as Iraq," in an attempt to fight against the Daesh.

Clinton’s Republican rival Donald Trump, on the contrary, has said that if US-backed rebels in Syria are successful in overthrowing the government, Syria could wind up in worse hands than those of President Bashar Assad and that as a president he would support the Russia-backed military operation in Syria.

“Trump would initially follow his political instincts and take a laisser-faire approach to the Syrian conflict. However, his military-national security agencies will gradually contain him and push him towards their agendas.”

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes against the Daesh in Syria and Iraq since 2014. The strikes in Syria have not been authorized by Assad’s government or the UN Security Council.
