MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin considers it possible to continue maintaining the regime in eastern Aleppo.
"The humanitarian pause [in Aleppo] had specific timeframes, but the regime of halting the operation of Russia's Aerospace Forces continues," Peskov said.
"The decision was made in accordance with President Putin's stance that backed the extension of non-resumption of the Russian Aerospace Forces' military operations," he told journalists when asked about Russia's further actions in Syria after the humanitarian pause.
Russia has recently backed a number of humanitarian pauses in Aleppo, with the latest entering into force on Friday.
However, according to the Russian Defense Ministry a humanitarian corridor around the western part of the Castello road in Aleppo was shelled by militants on Friday, injuring two Russian servicemen, while a local television broadcaster reported on the same day that militants were preventing civilians from leaving the besieged areas of Aleppo.
