WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In a legal cease-and-desist letter, the campaign asserted that such ads falsely represent Clinton’s status, CNN reported Monday, citing a campaign official.
The Clinton campaign asserts that several Republican political action committees that support Donald Trump’s presidential candidacy are behind the commercials.
On Sunday, Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey announced the FBI was affirming its July decision not to prosecute Clinton over her email practices as US secretary of state. The announcement resulted from a review of recently discovered emails on a computer shared by Clinton aide Huma Abedin and her estranged husband, former US congressman Anthony Weiner.
In July, Comey described Clinton’s use of a private email server for official Department of State business as careless but recommend against bringing criminal charges.
