WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The risk to US computer-enabled election systems varies from county to county, based on devices and processes used by polling stations, the network reported, based on a DHS September 20 intelligence assessment.
"We assess multiple elements of US election infrastructure are potentially vulnerable to cyber intrusions," DHS officials were quoted by Fox News as saying.
The DHS report, titled "Cyber Threats and Vulnerabilities to US Election Infrastructure," attributed the risk to decisions by some states to migrate to the cloud, the network noted.
The report did not mention Russia, a frequent target of warnings of election-day hacks from Obama administration officials in weeks leading up to Tuesday’s election.
Russian officials have characterized allegations that Moscow has attempted to influence the US election — absurd.
