NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Republican lawmakers who did not come around to support the party’s presidential nominee Donald Trump should not expect support from Republican voters, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee said in an interview on Tuesday.
"I'm going to tell you something. I'm going to remember them," Huckabee told Fox News. "And I hope every other Republican remembers them. Don't ever ask me for your vote again because you're done."
While the majority of Republican voters support Trump according to both, alternative and mainstream media polls, members of the elite and some Republican lawmakers never endorsed him.
Critics have pointed out that such many of the lawmakers are known by the acronym "RINO" — Republicans in name only — and are often engaged in an opportunistic relationship with Democrats against which voters seem to be rebelling against in the 2016 election.
Huckabee is considered one of the most faithful and long-standing Trump supporters, who backed the Republican presidential hopeful as early as February. Huckabee’s daughter, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, served as Trump's senior campaign adviser.
