The interview came ahead of Trump's speech at his New York headquarters to announce his victory in the November 8 elections.
He gave the speech after gaining 276 electoral votes; 270 are required to be declared the new US President.
Touching upon the US presidential elections, Ryan Hurl for his part particularly pointed to "the inability, whether you are talking about journalists or political scientists, to anticipate the success of Trump and the ability of Trump to transform individual celebrity into political power."
"This is not something people have talked about and not something that people had anticipated, and I was wrong about it. My 14-year old son was better at predicting Trump's success in the primary season than I was. It's something that people did not see," Hurl said.
He added that "you definitely see a kind of incomprehension at the success of Donald Trump" and that "even under the Trump presidency it will be possible to deal with any particular problem."
"In some ways, people describe Trump as being on the radical right wing, but he is more a representative of the radical center: he succeeded by focusing on policy issues where the two mainstream parties were overlapping and he experienced an incredible degree of success that no one anticipated," Hurl pointed out.
Addressing his supporters on Wednesday, US President-Elect Donald Trump pledged that "every single American will have an opportunity to realize his or her potential." He promised to rebuild US infrastructure, put millions of people to work and "renew the American dream."

He promised to always put US interest first and to "get along well" with all nations willing to get along with the US. He added that Washington would seek "common ground, not hostility” and “partnership, not conflict."

He then thanked his family for their "incredible support" throughout the presidential run. Trump also thanked US secret service staff and law enforcement for their help as he was speaking to his supporters after declaring victory in the US presidential elections.
As of early Wednesday, Trump was unexpectedly leading in three of six electoral battlegrounds, including Florida, Ohio and North Carolina.
According to the Associated Press, Trump obtained 276 electoral votes of the 270 needed to win the US presidency.
CBS also reported that Trump has gained 1 million more votes than Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who reportedly called on Trump to concede the race earlier on Wednesday.
