MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election holds promise of more peaceful international relations and is good news for France, the leader of France's National Front (FN) party said Wednesday.
"Since interests of France and the French are my priority, I dare repeat that the election of Donald Trump is good news for our country," Marine Le Pen told reporters.
She indicated that Trump was more likely to oppose globalization, improve relations with other nations, notably with Russia, and end military interventionism, which caused an influx of migrants to France.
"Americans have voted, they defied the status quo," the opposition leader announced. "What happened tonight is not the end of the world, it is the end of a world."
Trump beat his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, to US presidency on Tuesday, although the ultimate decision still lies with electors who will cast their votes on December 19.
