WASHINGTON (Sputnik) —According to the ACLU, Trump should reverse his promises regarding deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants, ban on Muslims' entry into the country as well as punishment for women accessing abortion.
"[W]e urge you to reconsider and change course on certain campaign promises you have made," ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero stated in the release on Wednesday. "These include your plan to amass a deportation force to remove 11 million undocumented immigrants; ban the entry of Muslims into our country and aggressively surveil them; punish women for accessing abortion."
If President-elect Trump proceeds to implement his campaign promises, the ACLU will challenge him with the "full firepower" in its disposal.
Romero also urged Trump to reconsider his stance on changing the nation’s libel laws and restricting freedom of expression.
On Tuesday, Trump became the 45th US president by clinching 289 electoral votes against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton's 218 votes.
