"The Vice President talked with the Vice President-elect about the key duties of the Vice President, and discussed a number of specific policy portfolios that have been a critical focus for him during his time in office," the release stated on Thursday.
Biden and Pence also spoke about current relations with NATO and countries in eastern Europe, according to the release.
Earlier on Thursday, President Barack Obama met with President-elect Donald Trump to discuss the process of the transition of power, including staffing and organization of the White House.
