Despite the peaceful nature of the protest, some opponents called for actin to negate Trump the US presidency.
"Something need to be fixed, something needs to be done," a protester who asked to remain anonymous told Sputnik. "He [Trump] needs to be impeached, he needs to be taken out. This is not right."
The protester added that the election result could be explained by the country’s flawed voting system or its character.
"This is possibly due to a faulty system or just a fault of our character as a country," the protester added.
A group of Trump's supporters, holding American flags, expressed confidence in the choice the American people made.
"Majority of Americans have spoken that they truly want to ‘Make America Great Again’. There is great hope, great potential for this, especially concerning his policies," a Trump's supporter told Sputnik, adding satisfaction that his policies have a potential to improve relations with Israel.
According to the New York City Police Department, nearly 5,000 people marched on the streets carrying anti-Trump signs.
