New Delhi (Sputnik) — Is immigration paranoia in the US raising its head soon after Donald Trump won the Presidential race? It may be premature to jump to this conclusion but a film company’s President is of this view after the US denied visa to an Indian child actor for attending the premier of an acclaimed movie.
"We are doing everything we can to fight this; we believe it must be the effect of immigration paranoia. He, of course, poses absolutely no threat to anyone," read a statement by David Glasser, president of the Weinstein Company that is distributing the film.
Sunny Panwar, an eight-year-old Indian actor, has been denied entry into the US for the upcoming Australian film Lion’s promotional campaign. He was to travel along with his father to participate in the film’s screenings in New York and Los Angeles. Other members of the cast include noted actors Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel.
The visa denial has evoked strong reactions on social media.
