MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Lavrov brought up an example of a recently adopted UN Security Council resolution condemning Daesh's use of civilians as human shields in Mosul, Iraq.
"We drew our colleagues' attention to the fact that an absolutely identical case is taking place in eastern Aleppo, but those in the lead are not Daesh but al-Nusra," he said at a joint press briefing with Benin’s foreign minister.
"Our Western partners in this situation are in no hurry to raise their voice against this absolutely inhuman practice, which again suggests that the West is ready to fight against Daesh, but still shields al-Nusra Front, apparently still harboring calculations in respect to the illegal group," Lavrov stressed.
