WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – On Wednesday night, some 500 people demonstrated against Trump near the White House and the Trump International Hotel in Washington DC.
The protesters started to insult police and an argument took place as a result of which one person was detained.
Trump won in the Tuesday US presidential election, despite expectations that his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton would come ahead. Trump secured more than the 270 electoral votes needed to win the US presidency, although Clinton won the popular vote with the support of 59.6 million Americans.
On Wednesday, hundreds of people staged anti-Trump protests across the country, including in New York City and the states of California, Oregon and Washington.
A group of students from American University in the US capital staged an anti-Trump protest and burned an American flag.
