The Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has launched a case against Microsoft for misusing its dominant position in the market.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia's anti-monopoly watchdog said Thursday it had opened a case against Microsoft over suspected violation of the law 'On the Protection of Competition."

"The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service [FAS] has launched a case against Microsoft on suspicion of violation of the law in terms of using its dominant position in the software market," FAS deputy head, Anatoly Golomolzin, said.

The move by FAS follows a complaint by Russia's Kaspesky Lab stating that Microsoft reduced the adaptation time for anti-virus software manufactured by other companies from two months to six days, which makes it literally impossible to compete with Microsoft's proprietary anti-virus software.
