Donald Trump winning the presidential vote is first and foremost a defeat for the Clinton clan rather than a Trump victory as such, Djordje Kuzmanovic, national secretary of the French socialist Left Party, told Sputnik France.

In the Face of Crushing Defeat, What Will Become of the Clinton Dynasty?
In an interview with Sputnik's French edition, Djordje Kuzmanovic, national secretary of France's Left Party, described Donald Trump's election victory as a defeat for the Clinton clan rather than a win for Trump as such.

The interview came after Donald Trump's astonishing victory in the November 8 presidential elections in the United States, in which he managed to get the better of the Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

"It is not so much a victory for Trump as a defeat for the Clinton clan since the time of Bill Clinton. Bernie Sanders would have been the best candidate against Trump [rather] than Clinton, who represents the [political establishment]," Kuzmanovic said.

He added that "Hillary Clinton does not personify the American people. She embodies the system, the big business, Wall Street and war, in all areas, on the planet."

Regarding Trump's victory, he said that he is not sure that "this is a positive development for the popular classes in the United States, something that is also can be said about Marine Le Pen representing something positive for the popular classes in France."

Louis Aliot, Member of the European Parliament from France's National Front, in turn told Sputnik that the American people were not fooled and lured into voting for Hillary Clinton.

"We are satisfied with how the whole world of arrogant politicians and the media … is now facing the reality of the expression of the people's will and Donald Trump's victory. I think that this is a good lesson because these politicians failed to manipulate the people," he said.

He added that Trump is "a living example" of how social networks and the Internet should be used for campaigning in the face of the mass media's biased approach.

Addressing his supporters on Wednesday, US President-Elect Donald Trump pledged that "every single American will have an opportunity to realize his or her potential."

He promised to rebuild US infrastructure, put millions of people to work and "renew the American dream."

He promised to always put US interests first and to "get along well" with all nations willing to get along with the US.

He added that Washington would seek "common ground, not hostility" and "partnership, not conflict."

He then thanked his family for their "incredible support" throughout the presidential run.

Trump also thanked US secret service staff and law enforcement for their help while speaking to his supporters after declaring victory in the US presidential elections, and even hinted that he hadn't ruled out an eight year term.
