WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — A US federal judge has issued an order requiring all residents of Flint, Michigan to receive bottled water delivery, according to the release.
"Federal judge David M. Lawson today ordered the Michigan state officials and the City of Flint to deliver bottled water door-to-door to homes in Flint," the release stated.
In April of 2014, Flint began using water from the Flint River in order to save money, but the water corroded the city’s network of lead pipes, causing high levels of lead in the water supply.
Flint has since switched back to its original water source, but the water still needs filtering because the lead pipes remain corroded and ultimately need to be replaced.
The court order requires homes to receive free bottled water delivered to their doors until the government can prove the home has a faucet filter, or if the homeowners do not want water deliveries.
