MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Los Angeles police on Friday arrested nearly 200 anti-Trump protesters in city's downtown, local media reported, citing police officials.
A total of 185 people were arrested and one police officer was injured during the demonstration, Los Angeles Times newspaper reported.
The protest was mostly peaceful but some vandalized property with graffiti, threw bottles and launched fireworks.
Trump won in the Tuesday US presidential election, despite expectations that his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton would come first. The Republican secured more than the 270 electoral votes needed to win the US presidency, although Clinton won the popular vote with the support of 59.6 million US citizens. The inauguration will be held on January 20, 2017.
