DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — According to the Al Manar television channel, the attack was a response to militants' attacks on civilian settlements in the province, which resulted in the deaths of civilians, including children.
The terrorists' losses amount to dozens of people, according to the broadcaster.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting the Syrian opposition groups striving to overthrow President Assad. In parallel, Damascus has to counter numerous extremist groups, in particular, Jabhat Fatah al Sham, as well as Daesh, outlawed in Russia and may other counties.
