During the presidential race, a number of US media outlets, including The New York Times were critical of the Republican candidate's policy. On Friday the newspaper publisher Arthur Sulzberger sent an editorial letter to the outlet's readers saying that The New York Times believed that it had covered Trump "fairly" and promising to "rededicate" themselves to the "fundamental mission" of journalism.
Ahead of the election day, the president-elect, who was known for his sometimes controversial statements made on social media, when he could even criticize other individuals and entities, had minimized his social media activities.
