MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Putin said the election outcome "testifies to broad support by voters of Igor Dodon's policy to achieve social and economic stability in the country and build balanced foreign policy priorities."
The Russian leader said he hoped for constructive dialogue and active joint work to develop the Russian-Moldovan relations in line with provisions of the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
"Vladimir Putin invited Igor Dodon to visit Russia and wished him success in the responsible activity as head of state," the statement said.
Dodon's campaign chair Ion Ceban said earlier Monday that Dodon would pay his first official foreign visit as Moldova's president to Russia.
