UK's Theresa May to Deliver First Major Speech on Foreign Policy After Brexit
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — UK Prime Minister Theresa May is expected to say on Monday during her speech in the City of London that her country is a global free trade champion as she seeks to secure post-Brexit trade deal with the United States.

May is expected to deliver her first major speech on the issues of the country’s foreign policy later in the day during the Lord Mayor’s banquet at Guildhall in the City of London.

The UK prime minister will say during her speech that the country is the "global champion of free trade" as long as it looks to reassure a trade deal with the United States after Brexit, the Sky News broadcaster said.

According to the broadcaster, May will not give any specific details on the kind of trade deals she might be seeking.

On November 10, May and US President-elect Donald Trump agreed that their countries’ bilateral relations were very special, and building on it would be a priority for both of them.

On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, some 52 percent of voters decided to support Brexit.
