BERLIN (Sputnik) — The Berlin police said Tuesday it had raided 18 properties across the capital as part of the operation against Islamist organization called The True Religion (Die wahre Religion), banned earlier in the day by the German government.

“Due to the federal ban of the organization… the Berlin police raided 18 properties early this morning," the police's press service said in a statement. "The police found the means of communication, the items illegal under the weapon law, illegal pyrotechnics and the organization’s documentation. Approximately 200 policemen took part in the operation."

Earlier in the day, Germany Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere announced the ban of The True Religion group. The organization is accused of the recruitment of some 140 fighters for daesh terrorist group, outlawed in many countries including Russia, and of promoting extremism.
