ANKARA (Sputnik) — Turkey has appointed a new envoy to Israel after the normalization of diplomatic relations between the countries following a six-year standoff, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Wednesday.
"We have appointed the ambassador to Israel, he is Kemal Okem," Erdogan said ahead of his flight to Pakistan.
Turkish and Israeli media touted Okem's name as Turkey's new ambassador to Israel last month. His confirmation comes one day after the appointment of Eitan Naeh as Israel's new envoy to Turkey.
