WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Fifty-nine percent of respondents said Trump should compromise with Democrats in Congress when they oppose his plans, while 29 percent believe he has a mandate for such proposals, the Washington Post/George Mason University survey found.
Trump won the November 8 presidential election by securing the required 270 Electoral College votes. In the popular vote, however, the lead of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton over Trump has surpassed 1 million, according to vote-tracking data.
Per the US Constitution, Trump will take his oath of office on January 20, becoming the nation’s 45th president.
