"If Trump is serious about seeking unity, the first thing he should do is rescind the appointment of Steve Bannon," Reid stated on Tuesday.
Reid also noted that Trump needed to heal the wounds created during the campaign with actions, because "talk is cheap and tweets are cheaper."
Trump is showing Americans he is not interested in uniting the country by appointing a champion on white supremacists like Bannon as his top advisor, Reid claimed.
"So I say to Donald Trump, take responsibility, rise to the dignity of the office of president of the United States instead of hiding behind your twitter account, and show America that racism, bullying and bigotry have no place in the White House or in America," Reid also said.
Before serving on Trump's campaign, Bannon ran the right-wing website Breitbart.com. Bannon also worked in investment banking, served as an officer in the US Navy and was special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations. Bannon holds a Master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University and a Master’s degree in national security studies from Georgetown University.
