ATHENS (Sputnik) – "I believe that Trump will continue the course on cooperation with Greece. And I want to say that improving [US] ties with Russia also affects us," Kammenos said in a Thursday interview to the militaire.gr news website.
Kammenos stressed that Athens and Moscow may maintain ties, despite Greece's membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Earlier in the week, outgoing US President Barack Obama visited Greece as part of his final foreign trip, which also includes stops in Germany and Peru.
On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US president-elect Donald Trump had their first phone conversation on US-Russian relations, the fight against terrorism, as well as the situation in Syria. They also agreed it was necessary to improve the deteriorated bilateral relations.
