LIMA (Sputnik), Anastasia Levchenko — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry are holding a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders week in Lima, with Syria being one of the main topics on the agenda, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
Ahead of the meeting, Lavrov and Kerry shook hands, refraining from giving comments to the media.
The ministers intend to discuss the entire set of issues related to Syria, including coordination of efforts on humanitarian relief, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said earlier on Thursday.
US anti-Russian sanctions are also on the agenda, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
Peru has been hosting APEC's all-year-round meetings that will culminate with the economic leaders' summit in its capital city of Lima on November 19-20.
