MOSCOW (Sputnik) — James Woolsey, a senior adviser of US President-elect Donald Trump and former CIA director said Thursday that the cooperation of the United State and Russia in fight against terrorism could be useful.

At the same time, the prospects of such cooperation will to a large extent depend on Russia's actions, Woolsey told the RT television broadcaster in an interview.

According to the adviser, if Russia does not apply aggressive policy in relations to neighboring states, the two countries will be able to cooperate on different issues.

As part of the fight against international terrorism, it is necessary, in particular, to resist Iran and its allies such as the Hamas Islamic movement, as these political actors are involved in terrorist activities, Woolsey added.

Russia, however, is not putting Hamas on terror list and actively developing relations with Iran.
