WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Canadian military personnel and their counterparts from Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania conducted the 10-day Maple Arch exercise in the western Ukrainian city of Yavoriv, the Canadian Armed Forces said in a press release on Friday.
"Exercise MA [Maple Arch] 16 focused on peace support and stability operations, where partner countries studied NATO procedures and tested the coordination, fluency and effectiveness of their cooperation," the release stated.
The drills enhanced collective competence and interoperability between Canadian, Lithuanian, Polish and Ukrainian forces, the defense ministry said.
The exercise, conducted from November 7 to 18, involved approximately 200 soldiers from the four nations.
Since 1994, Canada has supported Ukraine’s participation in Maple Arch exercises through the Military Training Cooperation Program.
