MOSCOW (Sputnik) – German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his Iraqi counterpart, Ibrahim Jaafari, will meet in Berlin on Monday to discuss the fight against the Daesh terror group, the German Foreign Office said.
"The focus of the negotiations will be on the fight against Daesh as well as on bilateral relations," the Foreign Office said in a statement released Friday.
Germany is part of a 65-nation coalition led by the United States that has been struggling to roll back Islamist insurgency in Iraq since August 2014. On Thursday, Chancellor Angela Merkel pledged to continue contributing to this fight by supporting the Kurdish forces and air policing.
