WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Trump’s transition team began talks with Moran in regards to the position for the US Department of Agriculture but the decision has not been made yet, The Hill news site said on Friday.
For the 2014 election cycle, Moran served as National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman (NRSC) and he currently overseers the Senate Appropriations Committee’s subcommittee on agriculture.
In the 2016 US general elections, Republican incumbent Moran won his Senate seat for the state of Kansas.
Earlier on Friday, Trump announced that he has nominated US Senator Jeff Sessions to serve as Attorney General and Congressman Mike Pompeo as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn has been selected to be the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs.
