WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Congressman Mike Pompeo will be an important asset to the Trump administration as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), US Senator and former Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Pat Roberts said in a press release on Friday.
"Kansans can be proud Mike Pompeo will lead the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and will be in a position to protect our national security at a time of increasing and varying global threats," Roberts stated. "He is a good and wise selection."

The release added that Pompeo has the combination of military and private sector experience needed for the CIA director position.
Both Roberts and Pompeo are from the US state of Kansas, and Roberts recommended Pompeo for Trump's transition team, the release added.
