The arrested finance officials are suspected of ties to Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen whom Ankara considers responsible for the recent coup attempt, the Turkish Minute outlet reported.

Turkey declared a state of emergency after the July 15 coup attempt. Thousands of military personnel, officials and members of the opposition were detained or laid off in a purge that followed, drawing criticism from Ankara's allies in Europe.

Ankara has also repeatedly questioned the United States' failure to extradite the US-based Gulen to Turkey.
