LIMA (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Filipino counterpart, Rodrigo Duterte, Russian metallurgy firms and railcar makers wanted to have greater access to the Philippines market, Putin’s spokesman said.
"The Russian president said that Russian companies were ready to work more actively in the Filipino market," Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in Lima, Peru.
The comment was made after Putin and Duterte met late Saturday on the margins of the APEC economic leaders’ summit in in Lima.
Peskov said Duterte had emphasized that Russian investors could be represented soon in various local industries. The Filipino president also raised the issue of drug trafficking and recieed an invitation from Putin to come to Russia whenever he had time.
