A strong 6.4-magnitude earthquake has hit western Argentina on Sunday, the United States Geological Survey reported. The epicentre of the quake was 10 kilometres of Zonda, San Juan province.
A magnitude 6.4 earthquake is considered to be strong, which may cause a lot of damage in very populated areas. The quake's epicentre was 115 km below the Earth's surface, which is fairly deep, though.
There were no immediate reports on any damage or casualties.
