ANKARA (Sputnik) – Turk was suspended from his office on November 17 and detained four days later along with Artuklu district Mayor Emin Irmak, the Daily Sabah newspaper said.
Police are conducting searches in the Mardin’s city administration, the daily claimed.
Turk was the leader of pro-Kurdish HDP and later became a member of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) accused by authorities of ties with PKK.
The PKK is outlawed in Turkey and listed as a terrorist organization. A ceasefire between Turkey and Kurdish militants collapsed in July 2015, prompting the Turkish authorities to launch a military operation in the Kurdish-dominated southeastern region.
