WikiLeaks: Obama 'Not Telling Truth' Claiming President Could Not Pardon Snowden
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US whistleblower Edward Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena said on Monday his client's extradition to the United States was impossible, even under the administration of newly elected US President Donald Trump.

"If we are speaking of the potential extradition [of Snowden]… it is impossible," Kucherena said at the lecture at Russia's MGIMO university.

On November 11, the lawyer expressed hope that Trump would review Snowden's case, but ruled out the extradition.

On November 10, Snowden himself said, according to The Guardian newspaper, that the possibility of the extradition could not be excluded but he was not worried about any such agreement between the United States and Russia.

In 2013, Snowden leaked classified documents pertaining to mass surveillance practices carried out by US authorities around the globe. The same year, Russia granted the whistleblower temporary asylum for one year. In August 2014, Snowden received a three-year residence permit to live in Russia.

In the United States, Snowden faces up to 30 years in prison on charges of espionage and theft of government property.
