Trump’s Popularity Rises 9 Points Since Election But Still Below 50%

US President-elect Donald Trump’s popularity has risen nine points since Election Day nearly two weeks ago, with 46 percent of voters giving him a rating of “very favorable” or “somewhat favorable,” a new poll revealed Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – However, an equal percentage of poll respondents rendered a negative opinion of Trump, with 34 percent declaring him “very unfavorable” and 12 percent giving a mark of “somewhat unfavorable.”

“Donald Trump’s popularity is rising in the days since his election,” Politico reported of its poll of registered US voters, conducted with Morning Consult.

The two publications issued a similar poll just before the November 8 election, finding Trump’s popularity at 37 percent.

Meanwhile, the latest survey also saw the incoming president’s unfavorability rating drop 15 points, to 46 percent from a pre-election 61 percent.

The poll also cited President Barack Obama’s rating among voters, showing 54 percent approve of the job he is doing while 43 percent disapprove — up from 50 percent approval and 48 percent disapproval marks for Obama prior to the election.
