MINSK (Sputnik) – Belarus is going to hold consultations with the European Union in December-January on joining the World Trade Organization (WTO), Permanent Representative of Belarus to the European Union Aleksandr Mikhnevich said on Monday.
“[The European Union] is ready to start negotiations in December-January – so we are speaking about coming months … These are very positive signals,” Mikhnevich said.
The WTO is an international organization set up to liberalize international trade and regulate trade and political relations between its member states.
Belarus submitted a request on joining the WTO in 1993.
