MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, US President-elect Donald Trump said that Farage could "do a great job" acting as the UK ambassador to the United States and many people would like to see him representing Britain.
"I think Nigel Farage would be an asset. Clearly he would have good relationship with the [US] president, he would have the interests of the UK at heart, he is plain speaking which would be an asset. So I think he would be a good choice," Sammy Wilson, a member of the UK Parliament for East Antrim, said.
The UK government said there are no vacancies for Farage, adding that Britain already has an excellent ambassador to the United States.
Farage, who advocated for the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union, welcomed the Trump's victory, calling it and Brexit "two big political revolutions" of 2016. Many pollsters and bookmakers failed to predict results of both the US presidential election and the Brexit referendum.
