DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — The UN Secretary-General’s deputy spokesman Farhan Haq said Friday that the organization's food warehouses in the eastern part of Aleppo were empty. The city's eastern districts, where, according to UN assesments, 275,000 people remain blocked, cannot be reached by humanitarian officials.
"The General Command of the Armed Forces calls on militants in Eastern Aleppo to allow citizens wishing to leave the city to leave and to not take them as hostages or human shields and to remove mines from the crossings identified by the State," the statement said.
"The General Command of the Armed Forces also calls on militants… to open warehouses and distribute food supplies to those who need it," it said.
