WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In July 2015, Iran and the P5+1 group of nations — the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom plus Germany — reached an agreement stipulating that Tehran keeps a peaceful nuclear program in exchange for sanctions releif.
"We certainly are not going to… sign a piece of legislation that would undermine the ability of the international community to continue to successfully implement the international agreement to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon," Earnest stated.
Earnest pointed out that the Obama administration already has the tools that can allow the United States to impose additional sanctions against Iran.
However, he noted that if the US Senate were to pass the same bill, it would be considered as long as it does not violate the nuclear agreement.
